At midday on Saturday, 30 July 2016, I gave a public talk at the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum in Lilydale, about why we love vintage fashion!
The talk was based on my book Out of Shape, but it’s to tie in with Emporium, a terrific touring exhibition from Albury that showcases a trove of vintage clothing, accessories, advertising and retail ephemera from the Albury department store Abikhair. The exhibition is on until Sunday 23 October, 2016 – well worth a weekend excursion if you live in Melbourne.
My talk was part of a great day of vintage-focused talks and workshops: Nicole Jenkins of Circa Vintage Clothing will be discussing ’50s fashion, and there was a beauty workshop on achieving the vintage look in 6 easy steps! Plus “light refreshments”, which are my favourite kind of refreshments! I ate some really tasty point sandwiches and selected from a delicious fruit platter as I chatted with vintage enthusiasts after the talk.
