The Independent Publishing Conference, a key professional development event for the publishing industry, was held at the Wheeler Centre from 9-12 November, 2016. I spoke at two events: ‘Freelancing: Taking care of yourself, your business, and your future’, at 2:15pm on Friday 11 November, and ‘Be good to writers’, at 12:15pm on Saturday 12 November.
Anthony Morris and I also appeared at the conference’s program launch on Thursday 13 October at 6pm. Anthony had to dash off to a film screening, but I performed a short reading from our forthcoming novel, The Hot Guy.
The conference, now in its fifth year, is an initiative of the Small Press Network, a group of 110-odd independent publishers that includes Affirm Press, which published my first book Out of Shape. The SPN celebrated its tenth birthday in 2016.
